Healthy Chocolate Banana Milkshake
Listen, if you’re here for a tasty smoothie recipe I know you’d like that recipe quickly. So I’ll skip the traditional food blogger shpeel about the time I went apple picking…because A. that has nothing to do with the recipe and B. who TF cares, haha.
But I will give you a couple food facts real quick because, well, I can.
What You’ll Need
- A good blender (May I recommend my favorite one I’ve ever had)?
- Frozen Bananas
- Almond/Coconut Milk
- Cocoa Powder
- Cinnamon
Cocoa Powder isn’t healthy…is it?
Yes. Yes it is actually. As long as it’s not cut with other stuff and is just straight cocoa powder it’s pretty healthy for you. In fact, it’s a great food to help reduce inflammation in the body and has been shown to offer heart benefits!
Cinnamon too?
Again cinnamon by itself is super good for you. It’s stuffed with antioxidants and is also a good anti-inflammatory. Of course, cinnamon for this recipe is optional, but it tastes so good why would you skip it!
Both of these ingredients we often associate with desserts and therefore unhealthy. But that’s only because they’re often paired with heaping piles of sugar and fats…which we’re skipping today.
Important Ingredient Note:
If you are using fresh bananas and have no desire to wait and freeze them, that’s fine. Just make sure you add about a cup of ice to the blender too.
If you don’t you’re going to have a lukewarm lumpy chocolate milk…frozen-ness is important to proper milkshake consistency.
Healthy Chocolate Banana Milkshake: The Major Motion Picture
Step By Step:
It’s pretty Straight forward….add your ingredients to the blender and turn it on. Blend until smooth. Add more milk if needed or if you feel like the shake is just a bit too thicc for your taste.
Pour into a glass. Add some whipped cream and sprinkles if your feeling fancy and thrive.

Equipment
- Blender
Ingredients
- 2 frozen ripe bananas
- ½ cup almond milk (or your favorite milk preference)
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ tsp cinnamon optional
Instructions
- Throw everything in the blender and blend until smooth. Add more almond milk if needed.
- Pour into a glass and maybe top with some whipped cream and a cherry!
