Halloween Candy Skillet Cookie Recipe
It’s not super common to have leftover Halloween candy after Halloween night. And no, it’s not because I have lots of trick or treaters….it’s because I’m a fat ass and can’t resist a good Milky Way, they’re my fav.
Just for funsies, let me know in the comments your favorite Halloween candy below!

And when you start with one Milky Way, how does one even stop? Also, little side rant, who thought calling those tiny, disappointing candy bars fun size? They aren’t fun. To be satisfying, it requires eating like 12 of them.
ANYWHO, this year we bought a house in an area with lots of kids. So I bought lots of Halloween candy.
And honestly, with COVID I decided not to hand out as much of that candy as I expected. Sooooo, this year we had extras. And to use it up we made a super tasty skillet cookie recipe.
A good skillet cookie recipe is perfect for a date night dessert, a small party treat, or even just to stuff yourself on a Friday night in the name of #selfcare. (I won’t judge).

The Perfect Skillet Cookie Recipe
Besides the ingredients and a wooden spoon, you’re only going to need one thing.
A good Cast Iron Skillet. This is the one I have and it’s always produced amazing skillet cookies.
*I suppose you’ll also need a good oven mitt because holy crap the handle gets hot! If it’s time for an oven mitt upgrade, I recommend getting yourself an Ove Glove. They’re the only mitts I use because they’re so good. Plus, if you’re as clumsy as I am, a glove is much better than a mitt.*
Not that I’m biased or anything, but I have some opinions on the best toppings for this skillet cookie recipe.
You’ve got to top it when it’s fresh out of the oven with a scoop (or two) of vanilla ice cream and then drizzle some tasty chocolate or caramel sauce over it.
Not to be dramatic but it’s organsmic.

Tips for the Perfect Halloween Skillet Cookie
Tip 1
Make sure that you cover it in tin foil before baking. Because this recipe is essentially a fantastic deep dish cookie, you don’t want burned edges or a raw middle.
Covering it in some recycled tin foil will prevent the edges from overbrowning and cook the middle thoroughly.
Tip 2
Make sure you actually melt your butter in the cast iron pan. This is a two birds one stone situation – you are greasing your pan so the cookie doesn’t stick and melting your butter.
Tip 3
This isn’t a tip exactly for this skillet cookie, but if you still have extra candy left after making this recipe, freeze anything that’s left! You can definitely still use it for all sorts of impromptu baking sessions.
(PS The Kitchen Magpie has a super tasty leftover Halloween candy Brownie Trifle – oh mah gawd, it’s amazing! And a fun treat to bring to a Thankgiving gathering or to a choco-holics birthday celebration. Make sure you check it out)!
But frozen candy is also perfect for that 2 am candy craving that we all get sometimes, amirite?

Tip 4
And another related but unrelated tip! Let’s talk cleaning the cast iron pan.
Do not use soap to clean your cast iron pan. It ruins the pan. Instead, when you’re ready to wash the pan, fill it with water, and allow it to come to a boil on the stove. Wipe it out with a clean cloth.

***Also if you like the monster eye sprinkles as much as I do, get some for yourself here. They’re so cute and give your skillet cookie recipe a much more Halloween-y vibe.***
Halloween Candy Skillet Cookie Recipe
Equipment
- 6 Inch Cast Iron Skillet
Ingredients
- ½ cup butter
- ⅓ cup sugar
- ⅔ cup Brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1¾ cup all purpose flour 210g
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1½ cups chopped Leftover Halloween chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F/180°F and on your stove top, melt your butter in your cast iron pan.
- Remove your pan from the heat pour the butter into a large mixing bowl. Mix in your sugars and vanilla extract. GO SLOW! You don't want to splash hot butter on your hands. *NOTE 1
- Allow this mixture to cool for 5 minutes before adding your egg. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP. If you don't allow time for stuff to cool, you'll scramble your egg…ew.
- Whisk in your egg. Add in your flour, salt, and baking soda and mix until a soft dough forms. Then quickly fold in your candy. Press the dough down so that it is mostly level and optionally, add more candy on top.
- Bake your cookie 15-18 minutes until your edges are just starting to brown. NOTE2* Carefully remove the skillet from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before topping with ice cream and drizzling in chocolate sauce. Cut into wedges, serve and enjoy!!
