Create your own homemade pizza cones easily and whenever you want. Everything you love about pizza with all the fun of eating an ice cream cone.
Pizza cones are such a trendy way to eat our pizza right now. I think I’m obsessed as everyone else with them. But, I, like most people I know, don’t have an endless supply of extra cash to justify buying pizza cones as often as I’d like to eat them. But honestly, why buy when you can DIY?
Don’t tell anyone but homemade pizza cones are super easy to make too. They make a fun girl’s night in activity or a unique and super adorable date night. Kids love them, adults love them, dogs beg for them (but we never share with them, right?).

Tips for Homemade Pizza Cones
I’m going to be honest with you, I didn’t have any molds to make these cones. So, I ended up making a mold out of tin foil. It wasn’t as easy as having something like these Cream Horn Molds. If you want to make this recipe extra easy, I’d suggest getting yourself some of those, especially if you plan on making these for a crowd. It’ll go much faster and smoother.
If you do use the tin foil method, stuff the tin cone with more tin foil balls so that they don’t collapse in on themselves.
I used Kroger refrigerated pizza crust. It worked amazing and at a much better price than any of the name brand stuff. You can of course make your own pizza crust but this was easier and delicious. Which you know is what I’m all about.
Don’t limit yourself on just the filling I used. Fill your cones with all the goodies that you’d love on your normal pizzas.
MAKE SURE TO STUFF. Stuff your cones with fillings so that they’re pretty full. Not overflowing, but make sure you push down the toppings with a spoon to fill all the way. As they bake, the cheese melts which makes more space. More space means a sad top of your cone.
When blind baking your crust, place the cones upside down on a baking sheet on straight on top of your oven rack.
But during the second bake, flip the cones and stick them in between the rack wires.

Keeping You Oven Clean of Melty Cheese
Put a baking sheet on the bottom rack to catch and cheese or sauce that may bubble over the top while baking to save yourself clean up time and burning cheese at the bottom of your oven.
Or even better, get yourself some of these oven liners. If you hate cleaning a dirty, smoky oven you NEED these. They’re so easy and have saved my butt over and over.
The oven liners are reusable, eco-friendly, and just require a quick wipe down. They’re great especially when you rent because your deposit can sometimes depend on a non-trashed oven. #justsaying
Homemade Pizza Cones
Equipment
- Cone molds or tin foil
Ingredients Â
- 1 can fresh pizza dough
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ cup mini pepperonis
- ½ cup chopped mushrooms optional
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Parmesan cheese
InstructionsÂ
- If you are not using a cone mold, use a square piece of tin foil and shape it into a cone shape.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F/220°C
- Take your pizza dough and roll it out thin, until it is only about ¼ inch or 6mm thick. (the dough will puff as it bakes). Cut your dough in 4 triangles.
- Add your garlic powder and Italian seasoning to your olive oil. Using a pastry brush, brush the inside crust evenly with the oil.
- Carefully roll your dough around you tin foil cones or cone molds making sure that there are no holes in your dough.
- Bake these for about 7-9 minutes. They should be mostly cooked so that the dough isn't sticky around your mold but not cooked fully.
- Take them out of the oven and allow them to cool for about 5 minutes.
- Remove the mold and begin adding your fillings. Start by adding cheese at the very bottom to prevent sauce leakage. Then simply add layers of sauce, cheese, pepperoni and mushrooms. **
- Bake the cones for an additional 7-10 minutes by sticking them in between the oven rack wires.
- Remove from the oven, allow to cool for a couple minutes (or don't – but a burned roof of your mouth is no fun), and enjoy.
